Inside Line Promotions – SEDALIA, Mo. (Aug. 21, 2017) – Tony Bruce Jr. highlighted last weekend’s doubleheader in Missouri with a top-10 finish on Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway.

Bruce Jr. and the Smith Family No. 86 opened the night by finishing fifth in a heat race, which lined the team up on the inside of the eighth row for the main event.

“We missed hot laps (because of a mechanical problem) so that really hurt us for the heat race,” he said. “We were ok in the A Main. We were able to move forward throughout the race, but we didn’t need that caution toward the end.”

Bruce Jr. had powered from 15th to eighth place and was closing in on seventh place when a late caution bunched the field together. He lost a position on the restart and finished ninth, which marked his 11th top 10 of the season.

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday at Missouri State Fair Speedway with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour. Bruce Jr. finished where he started – third – in a heat race to line up 11th for the A Main.

“We didn’t get the car tight enough and the track was one lane in the main event,” he said. “I tried a whole bunch of stuff rather than just riding in line. I went to the bottom a couple of times and would lose a position here and there.”

Bruce Jr. capped the night with a 14th-place finish.

He will return to action Sept. 2-3 at Lake Ozark Speedway for the 8th annual 360 Nationals with the ASCS Warrior Region.
