PETERSEN MEDIA- Going to work at the famed Knoxville Raceway in the 410 division on Saturday night, Tony Bruce, Jr can only shake his head in frustration, and turn the page as the Owasso, OK driver salvaged a 13th place finish after what he calls a terrible start to the night.

“I just didn’t start the night off on the wheel,” Bruce, Jr admitted. “Wayne worked his tail off on the car all night, and I didn’t do my part.”

With 30 cars in the pits at the historic ½ mile, Bruce’s qualifying efforts put him 21st on the speed chart, and buried him in his heat race.

Lining up seventh in his heat, Bruce wasn’t able to go anywhere in his heat as he fell back to the eighth spot in his heat, and found himself in the night’s ‘B’.

“After the heat, Wayne continued to work on the thing, I had look inside myself about my driving,” said Bruce, Jr.

After giving himself a “wake-up call”, TBJ started fifth in the B, and put his Hinchman/Oil Medics/Factory Kahne machine in the show, by way of a fourth place finish, and ultimately lined up in the 22nd position.

In the feature Bruce was able to work his Wayne Priddy tuned machine forward, but still was marred in traffic and in the middle of the pack.

“We got going okay in the feature, and it was a breath of fresh air after the way our night started,” Bruce continued.

TBJ was able to work his way up to the 13th spot, still not the finish he was looking for.

“We got going a lot better in the feature, but a 13th is not what anyone is ever looking for,” Bruce explained. “We rebounded from a tough start, but it’s still not a good night. Now we will head to Little Rock, AR for some more ASCS action.”

Bruce would like to thank all of his sponsors, Hinchman Racewear, Pro Auto, The Oil Medics, Smileys, SWE, Maxwell Industries, FK Rod Ends, Butlerbuilt, Factory Kahne Shocks, Randy’s Racing Filters, DriversWebsites.com, Racinboys.com, Wilwood, Zemco Headers, Hoosier Tires, Gaerte Engines, Pro Powder Coating, Fuel Safe, Bell, Weld Wheels, and ISC Racer’s Tape for their support through the 2012 season.

ON TAP: The one8 Motorsports team will now head to I 30 Speedway for a pair of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour events this weekend, May 11-12.

Bruce Has Wild Weekend

PETERSEN MEDIA- Tony Bruce, Jr had a crazy weekend that saw the Liberal, KS turned Owasso, OK native charge from the B to a 10th place finish Friday night and failing to make the show in the TBJ Promotions Rock-N-Roll 50 on Saturday.

“It was a wild weekend for sure,” said Bruce, Jr. “Racing wise we were okay, but promotionally with TBJ Promotions it was awesome.”

Friday night saw the Lucas Oil ASCS National Series invade the Salina Highbanks in Salina, OK for the first time since 2001, and problems early forced TBJ to show the crowd how to charge from the rear.

Issues in his heat, forced Bruce and his one8 Motorsports/Oil Medics/Pro Auto mount to tag the B in the 16th spot.

“The B was hairy,” said TBJ. “Cars were everywhere so I was just hoping to keep my nose clean and make it through.”

Bruce was a stout force in the B, as he charged up through the field and grabbed the fourth spot, transferring him into the feature, but putting him in the 20th starting spot.

In the feature, Bruce had his hands full with the star studded field, but was able to put his right rear on the cushion and work the tip top of the track aboard his Wayne Priddy tuned machine, and hard charged his way to a 10th place finish.

“We passed some cars tonight, that’s for sure” said TBJ. “It’s not an easy thing to start in the back of one of these races and move forward, but luckily we snuck out of here with a 10th.”

Saturday night the series traveled to the Riverside International Speedway for the 4th Annual Rock-N-Roll 50, an event that is promoted by TBJ Promotions.

“What a horrible night for the race team,” said Bruce.

The night got started off on the wrong foot as Bruce, who started on the pole in his heat, thought he had an opening under Zach Pringle, and ended up taking both drivers out of the event.

“I thought I had an opening, and ended up taking both of us out, and feel bad for him. It was nothing intentional, just a very costly mistake,” explained Bruce.

Marred in the back of another B, Bruce was unable to get through the B, and failed to transfer into the feature.
“It was a stout field of cars tonight, and it was a tough B and we were in the back,” he continued. “It was an awesome event overall with a great crowd, and I commend Seth Bergman on his first win, it was awesome to see.”

Bruce would like to thank all of his sponsors, Hinchman Racewear, Pro Auto, The Oil Medics, Smileys, SWE, Maxwell Industries, FK Rod Ends, Butlerbuilt, Factory Kahne Shocks, Randy’s Racing Filters, DriversWebsites.com, Racinboys.com, Wilwood, Zemco Headers, Hoosier Tires, Gaerte Engines, Pro Powder Coating, Fuel Safe, Bell, Weld Wheels, and ISC Racer’s Tape for their support through the 2012 season.

ON TAP: The one8 Motorsports team will now take a look at various schedules and decide what to do with their weekend off from Lucas Oil ASCS National Series competition.

TBJ 15th in 2012 World of Outlaw Debut

PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading into the weekend, Tony Bruce, Jr and his one8 Motorsports team had plans of running an unusual pair of 410 races, but mother nature rained out Saturday’s show, and Friday night saw TBJ score a 15th place with the World of Outlaws.

“It wasn’t the greatest result, but it was our first night out with the 410 this season, so we tried some things, and played with some things,” said Bruce.

With 27 cars checked into the first race of the Kasey Kahne Challenge, TBJ timed his Oil Medics/ButlerBuilt/SRE backed No.18 in with the 18th fastest lap of the night, missing out on the heat race inversion.

“Missing out on the inversion with the outlaws his huge, because basically you’re stuck in the back all night long,” explained Bruce.

Lining up in the fourth row of his heat race, TBJ was able to pick up two spots, putting him in the fifth spot, and transferring him directly into the feature event.

Starting 18th in the 25-lap feature, Bruce had his work cut out for him on what was a very slick surface at the ½ mile facility.

As the race got underway, Bruce held his own, and remained in the 18th spot.

“Starting that far back on a place that big is tough, especially being stuck in dirty air,” Bruce continued.

With laps clicking off, Bruce was able to take advantage of a mid race caution, and moved up in to the 15th spot.

Instead of forcing the issue a few times late in the feature, Bruce held on and finished in the 15th spot.

“We were decent, but I aired on the side of caution a few times, and didn’t make some passes that I probably should of went for. The team did a great job, and I wish Knoxville wouldn’t of rained out.”

Bruce would like to thank all of his sponsors, Hinchman Racewear, Pro Auto, The Oil Medics, Smileys, SWE, Maxwell Industries, FK Rod Ends, Butlerbuilt, Factory Kahne Shocks, Randy’s Racing Filters, DriversWebsites.com, Racinboys.com, Wilwood, Zemco Headers, Hoosier Tires, Gaerte Engines, Pro Powder Coating, Fuel Safe, Bell, Weld Wheels, and ISC Racer’s Tape for their support through the 2012 season.

ON TAP: The one8 Motorsports team will now head to High Banks in Salina, OK before competing in the Rock-n-Roll 50 in West Memphis, AR that TBJ himself promotes.
