Inside Line Promotions – FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 6, 2019) – Tony Bruce Jr. captured his first career sprint car championship this season by garnering the ASCS Lone Star Region title.

Bruce Jr. and car owner Mike Hayashi led the region with a pair of victories, four top fives and six top 10s in eight feature starts.

“This is the first time I’ve ever run a regional series for points,” Bruce Jr. said. “Any time you win a championship that makes you feel like you’ve made the right decision and it was worth the time and effort. I want to thank Mike for the opportunity as well as everyone who supports the team.”

The duo wrapped up the season last week during the Tony Stewart presents the VANKOR Texas Sprint Car Nationals hosted by the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. Bruce Jr. finished where he started in both a heat race – third – and a qualifier – first – to rank eighth in points on Thursday. That locked him into the eighth starting position for the main event, which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour and the ASCS Lone Star Region.

“It was a tricky track because it was so heavy and rough,” he said. “We were able to start eighth and maintain. We didn’t make mistakes. We made sure not to do anything stupid and bring the car home in one piece.”

The top 10 was the highlight of the weekend as a high pill draw and lack of passing in a heat race buried the team during Friday’s finale.

Thursday’s outing marked the fourth top 10 of the season during limited ASCS National Tour starts for Bruce Jr., who is finished racing for the season.

“I would like to say thank you to all of the people and businesses that make this car go, including Brey Industries Limitless Concrete, Kirkness Roofing, Kannady Racing Engines, Tim Palmer Graphics Design, Forney Air, Smiley’s Racing Products, H.L. Ostermiller Construction Inc., John Ivey, Chris Stivers and Jason Gathwright as well as Tony Bruce Jr.,” Hayashi said. “This team doesn’t work without all of the help.”
